In Turkey, car sales including passenger vehicles and commercial light vehicles rose by 134.5pc in August from the prior-year.
Sale of car units rose to 61,533 units in August from the prior-year according to data released by Automotive Distributors’ Association (ODD).
In the previous month, car sales shot up substantially with LCVs up 265pc and passenger vehicles by 106pc from the prior-year period on the back of pent-up demand.
In a period of eight month (Jan-Aug), Turkey’s auto market grew by 68pc as July sales were very high which offset the degrowth caused by COVID-19. Total sales in the period stands at 403,002 units.
From January-August, passenger car sales rose by 64.2pc to 317,394 units and LCV sales increased by 86.1pc to 85,608 units.
Marked improvement in auto sales will result in improved production in the coming months.
