The Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco) began production trials of its newly constructed alumina refinery in Fangchenggang port, China on September 10.
According to media reports, the trials started after the company received a license in June to operate its 1.07mn sq.ft. bonded bauxite warehouse in Guangxi. The Huasheng refinery is slated to produce 2mn mt of alumina per year, across two lines. Reports also indicated that the facility could put out 40,000-50,000mt of alumina by the end of this month.
The Huasheng plant has a combined yearly output of 4mn mt of alumina and can produce 800,000mt of liquified aluminum.
