- It is the first time the country has a long-term policy that marks the path of how to move forward. PNM 2050 has outlined economic, environmental, social, and institutional objectives.

- Goals include sustainable mining, a 20pc contribution target for mining in domestic GDP by 2030. Jobet also hinted at diversifying into non-copper products and doubling the annual investment in greenfield exploration compared to the average of the last 5 years.

- Targets for 2050 include maintaining a 28pc share of world copper production, reaching 9mn mt, and elevating productivity by 50pc.
