Chile’s industrial output in August declined by 4.8pc from the same month year prior due to the negative impacts of the three sectors that comprise it, according to the government statistics agency INE.

 

Chilean manufacturing output in August plummeted by 8.2pc from the year prior but increased by 0.2pc from July.

 

The country’s mining output during the same period declined by 2pc from August 2019 and by 0.9pc from the prior month. The lower mining output in August is a consequence of less activity recorded in the sector, especially in metallic mining.

 

Copper production in August stood at 489,461mt, down by 5.5pc from the same month year prior. In January-August, copper output grew by 0.6pc to 3.8mn mt from the prior-year period.
