Chile’s industry Producers Price Index (IPPI) increased by 18.2pc in the first seven months of the year and by 27.4pc in July compared to July 2020 the National Statistics Institute (INEI) reported on Aug 24.
The Mining Producer Price Index (MPPI) led the increase with an accumulated 25.4pc rise in January-July and a 42.5pc rise compared to July 2020.
Iron ore extraction and copper extraction and processing led the MPPI annual increase with 92.4pc and 42pc against July 2020, respectively, due to increased international prices and resumption of production at mines after COVID-19 related lockdowns eased. The iron and steel subcategory of the IPPI registered a 59pc rise in July from the previous year.
