The value of Chile’s mining exports rose by 6.8pc to $9.8bn in Q2 2020, from $9.2bn in the same quarter last year, the Chilean Central Bank announced without disclosing total volume.

 

However, the central bank pointed out that Chile exported 762,693mt of copper concentrate in Q2 2020, down by 7.9pc from 828,239mt exported during the same period last year.

 

On the other hand, the South American country shipped 597,922mt of refined copper cathodes last quarter, up by 10.5pc from 540,841mt exported in the Q2 2019.

 

The central bank also noted that Chile exported 71,118mt of ferrous scrap in Q2 2020, down by 32.2pc from 105,133mt in the same prior-year period. Exports of flat steel products declined by 61.2pc to 306,000mt from 785,000mt during the same period under comparison.

 

Chile also exported 276mt of wire rod last quarter, down by 99.5pc from 1.2mn mt in Q2 2019. The country’s exports of profiles fell by 60.5pc to 291mt from 737mt while its welded steel pipes exports rose by 394pc to 741mt from 150mt during the same quarters under comparison.
