Chile’s producer price index (PPI) for mining grew 18.6pc in December 2020 on an annual basis due to higher prices for copper and iron ore, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (Ine). 

 

In December 2020, the PPI for copper and iron ore rose by 22pc and 30.1pc, respectively over December 2019.The manufacturing PPI also increased by 3.1pc in the same period.

 

Chile’s copper production fell by 2.1pc to 493,538mt in November this year, from 504,349mt produced in the same month the prior year, according to Inei. Copper prices reached $3.60/lb on Jan 26, down by 0.34pc compared to the prior day, according to figures from the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco).
