Chile’s rebar sales declined by 3.8pc to 50,821mt in October on an annual basis due to lower demand from the nation’s construction industry, according to the Chilean Chamber of Civil Construction (CChC).

 

The South American country sold 52,875mt of rebar in October 2019, according to the latest figures released by CChC on Wednesday. Chile’s rebar sales also fell by 1.6pc in January-October to 535,752mt, from 544,474mt in the prior-year timeframe. On a monthly basis, on the other hand, Chilean rebar sales rose by 12.5pc from 45,152mt in September.

 

Chile’s crude steel output reduced by 6.2pc to 105,000mt in October, from 112,000mt produced in the same prior-year period, according to the World Steel Association.
