China’s automobile production increased by 3.8pc to 2.59mn units in November from prior year indicating that automakers have started to restore the pace of production and replenish inventories.  

 

Automobile production and sales figures were better than a month ago, when they were down by 4pc. In the Jan-Nov 2019 period, auto production decreased by 9pc to 23.03mn compared to year ago, according to the China Automobile Industry Association (CAIA). 

 

Passenger car production increased by 11.6pc to 2.16mn in November while commercial vehicle production rose by 14.6pc to 0.43mn units. Heavy goods vehicle production was 1.06mn, up by 4.7pc from last year. The production of new energy vehicles reported a decline of 36.9pc to 1.10mn. 

 

In the Jan-Nov 2019 period, auto companies exported 0.91mn vehicles, a decline of 4.5pc from prior year. Of this, passenger vehicle exports were 0.64mn, down by 7.9pc. Commercial vehicle exports rose by 4.6pc to 0.27mn units.

 

Though there has been a rise in production, the sales decreased. The sales volume in November was 2.45mn, down by 3.6pc. Passenger car sales recorded a decline of 5.4pc to 2.05mn. Commercial vehicle sales increased by 6.9pc to 0.4mn. Sales of pure electric vehicle was down by 41.2pc to 81,000, while sales of plug-in hybrid vehicle was down by 54.4pc to 14,000 units.
