China will cut down single-plant capacities of mills producing electrolytic aluminium in the Henan province to 200,000mt annually.


As per the China Steel News Network, action is being taken to reduce air pollution in the urban areas of Henan, with the provincial government aiming for a total reduction in electrolytic aluminium production to 2.5mn mt in 2020. 


Plants violating air pollution norms will be shut down before the year end, the China Steel News Network said. 


These steps are part of a three-year prevention and control campaign for Henan province announced by the government to combat pollution. 


The three-year action plan for the same was launched in 2018. 


Henan province is known for its bauxite reserves and has at least five plants producing electrolytic aluminium.
