Chinese authorities will be accepting applications from non-ferrous metallic scrap recycling companies till April 30, to be recognized as companies meeting standard industry norms.
The notice issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for copper, aluminium, lead, zinc and magnesium scrap recyclers on March 31, has asked companies to voluntarily declare their enterprise specifications by the end of the month in order to verify whether they meet requirements of the regulatory conditions of their respective smelting industries. Companies which have already received recognition will also have to reapply, according to the notice.
The voluntary declaration by the non-ferrous industry looks to structure downstream industries and control the quantity and quality of scrap China imports. The notice is applicable to companies that have completed over a year of operations.
