China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) plans to review the operating standards of steel and iron plants in March. A preliminary review showed that 13 steel companies abided with the revised standard of 2015 and these companies will be moved to the list of regulated enterprises. Twelve steel companies have changed their smelting equipment. Meanwhile, 13 companies have failed to meet environmental protection norms. MIIT has ordered these companies to rectify the faults. Ten companies have changed names. Authorities will review the steel industry in March on grounds of environmental protection and safety measures.
