Chinalco has received approval for its expansion project of the Toromocho Mining Unit, in Peru to increase copper ore processing capacity to 170,000mt per day.
The company will invest $1.3bn in total, for other plans as well, like developing the infrastructure of the concentrator plant, improving the water supply system, constructing a new access road, and prepare areas to install a new primary crusher.
Chinalco’s plans were approved by the National Environmental Certification Service (Senace) and by the National Water Authority (ANA) after a series of modifications to its environmental impact study.
