Unwrought copper and copper products shipments to China increased by 34pc to around 6.68mn mt in 2020 from 4.98mn mt in the previous year.
According to the Chinese customs data released on Thursday, copper and copper products’ imports in December also increased by around 8.8pc to 512,332mt in December compared with the previous month.
On the other hand, copper ores and concentrates imports trended slightly down compared with 2019, declining by 1pc to 2,176mt in 2020 from 2,198mt in the previous year. In December, copper ores and concentrates’ imports were reported at 188.5mt.
In terms of non-ferrous exports, China’s shipments of aluminum and aluminum products declined by 15.2pc in 2020 to 4.85mn mt compared with 5.72mn mt in the previous year. In December, China exported 456,130mt of aluminum, the data indicated.
