China’s average daily crude steel production in early July (July 1-10) rose to 2.13mn mt, up by 5.81pc from the prior year period, production dropped by 0.53pc from the prior 10-day period. Pig iron production increased to 1.91mn mt, up by 7.61pc from the prior July and steel products decreased to 1.98mn mt, up by 5.18pc from the prior July, but down 7.20pc from late-June, according to official data reported by China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

In the first half of July, key steelmakers in China produced 21.30mn mt of crude steel, 19.17mn tons of pig iron, 19.80mn mt of steel products. CISA compiles the production data from 93 key steel producers across the country. 

 

CISA estimates China’s total crude steel output at 2.976mn mt in early-June, which is up 4.74pc from the prior year period and down by 0.29pc from late-June. 

 

Steel products inventories at key producers in early July was 13.61mn mt, down marginally by 0.04mn mt from late-June and up by 4.08mn mt compared to the start of the year.
