China’s ferrous scrap imports in January-May increased by 2,232pc to 246,379mt from 7,394mt in the same period last year according to the country’s Customs data.

 

In May, the Asian nation’s ferrous scrap imports increased by 5,595pc, to 114,741mt from 2,015mt in the same month last year. Imports for May increased by 50pc from 76,249mt in the prior month.

 

Japan led exports to China last month with cargoes of 81,679mt, followed by South Korea at 27,126mt, and Hong Kong and the US with 2,526mt and 1,008mt, respectively.
