In China, production of non-ferrous metals was at 5.29mn mt, up by 6.9pc from the prior-year period, according to industrial data for August released recently.
China produced 3.17mn mt of primary aluminium, up by 5.5pc from the prior-year period. In the first eight months of 2020, China produced 24.30mn mt of aluminium, up by 2.3pc from the prior-year period.
Chinese non-metallic mineral products industry rose by 5 pc while ferrous metal smelting and processing industry and non-ferrous metal smelting and processing industry rose by 9.2pc and 4.8pc, respectively, from the same period last year. The general equipment manufacturing industry, special equipment manufacturing industry and automobile manufacturing industry rose by 10.9pc, 8.0pc and 14.8pc, respectively, from August 2019.
The railways, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment’s production decreased by 0.3 pc from August 2019.
The electrical machinery, equipment manufacturing and manufacturing of computer, communication and other electronics increased by 15.1pc and 8.7pc over the same period last year. The production and distribution of electric power, heat and water increased by 5.9pc from August 2019.
The number of automobile produced was 2mn, up by 7.6pc, including 125,000 new energy vehicles which saw an increase of 31.6pc.
The data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that the value-added of state-owned holding enterprises increased by 5.2pc from the prior-year period.
The joint-stock enterprises increased by 5.8pc and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan invested enterprises increased by 5.3pc and that of private enterprises increased by 5.7pc from the prior-year period.
