China’s Bejing Shougang International Engineering Technology (BSIET) has ordered a new iron ore pelletizing plant from the Finnish supplier Metso Outotec.
The plant is expected to begin operations in mid-2022 and will feature Metso’s traveling grate pellet furnace, spanning 432 sq meters, which will produce higher quality, uniform pellets at a lower cost. The company did not disclose the amount of the transaction or the planned output capacity.
Tobias Stefan, vice president, Ferrous & Heat Transfer at Metso Outotec, noted that this was the company’s second pelletizing plant order from China in the past six months.
BSIET is part of the Shougang Group, which has an annual steelmaking capacity of around 30mn mt per year, according to the company’s website.
