China-based Tangshan Iron and Steel New District of HBIS (now Tangsteel HBIS) was commissioned formally after the blast furnace No.1 having an annual production capacity of 2.5mn mt was ignited on September 7, Chinese media reported.
A 2,050 mm hot rolled coil production line with an annual production capacity of 4.1mn mt has also been put into operation.
The plant is located on the banks of Bohai Bay which gives easy access to ships and vehicles, saving cost of logistics and transportation. The finished products produced would be directly shipped via se, ensuring fast delivery..
The new plant has implemented the most stringent environmental protection norms and all emission indicators are 10pc lower than the current industry’s “Tangshan Ultra-low Emission Standard.”
The plant would have an annual pig iron and steel production capacity of 7.32mn mt and 7.47mn mt, respectively. It would also produce 7.1mn mt of finished steel and 3mn mt of quality long steel.
