Chinese automaker Geely could fall short of its yearly production target of 1.53mn units, according to media reports. A shortage of semi-conductors could contribute to the lag.
In the first half of the year, the company’s vehicle sales rose by 19pc to 630,237cars. Its production, however, could not reach the halfway mark of its yearly target. In the year, the company plans to achieve a sales volume growth of 16pc from 2020. But a resurgence of COVID-19 globally and continued semi-conductor shortage could dampen the plans.
In H1, the company posted a profit of CNY2.38bn, up from CNY2.30bn in H1 2020. Revenue increased by 22pc to CNY45bn.
The company plans to launch new models to gain a competitive edge and perform better in the second half of the year.
