China-based Chongqing Iron and Steel’s blast furnace No. 4 resumed production after the completion of upgrades. The furnace was shut in Oct and the upgrade and transformation project began in May.
The upgrade of BF No. 4, which is an ironmaking furnace, included key projects such as the furnace body carbon brick update, the new furnace front dust removal system, the water slag system transformation, and the new blast furnace lower 18 line. The upgrade work was carried out for 122 days.
Post the upgrade, Chongqing Iron’s No. 4 blast furnace has a production capacity of 5,200mt per day. This transformation brings Chongqing Iron closer to its goal of becoming a 10mn mt steel enterprises.
