Chongqing Iron & Steel achieved 748,100mt steel production in January despite a 13-day maintenance break. The company aims to produced 10mn mt steel annually and believes the January output indicates a good start for the year.
In 2021, Chongqing Steel said it will continue to optimize production models, reduce costs and adjust production and sales models to achieve the 10mn mt production target.
Blast furnace-based hot metal production reached 656,000mt in January with the fuel ratio exceeding 499.8 kg/mt; dry coke ratio above 334.5 kg/mt; and coal ratio above 165 kg/mt of iron, which are new historical records.
In January, Chongqing Steel’s No.1 converter was under repair for 13 days despite which the plant produced 748,100mt steel and saleable steel of 771,300mt. The plant’s rolling volume for 1780mm line was 423,200mt with a storage volume of 417,300mt.
The plant has formulated plans including ‘2 furnaces to 1 machine’ to maximize the steel throughput of its continuous caster besides focusing on BF operation technologies including high oxygen enrichment, high coal ratio, high top pressure and high wind speed.
