The weekly Davis Index for CIS basic pig iron held unchanged at $540/mt fob Black Sea on Friday in a quiet market.
There were no pig iron sales reported from the CIS this week, though suppliers remained firm in their offers of $570/mt cfr to the USA and Italy amid limited availability of the material. Most exporters have already sold significant tonnages for April shipment, and some even for May.
Demand for pig iron softened because buyers started expecting discounts as prices for ferrous scrap decreased significantly in the global market.
The weekly Davis Index for CIS pig iron in Italy was flat at $568/mt cfr on Friday due to a lack of deals and slow negotiations.
