Codelco has reported a rise in fine copper production at its Molybdenum and Copper Filtering Plant (SPMFC) in the past year.
According to the Chilean state-owned miner’s press release on Sep 30, it has dealt with most of the major operational and maintenance inefficiencies since its July 2019 review and has now registered a 60pc growth in fine copper production to 18,352mt. However, the copper miner did not disclose the comparative period for this increased output.
Codelco’s Andina Division operates the Rio Blanco underground mine and the Sur Sur open-pit mine in the Andes region of Valparaiso, Chile. In 2019, this division produced 170,274mt of copper fines.
