Canpack Group has invested $150mn in a new aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility, where annual production can jump to 1.9bn cans from 1.3bn presently.

 

The Tocanpica, Columbia-based facility encompasses about 75,000m2 and is a part of the Polish company’s push to establish itself in South America. The facility is a partnership between Canpack and ABN InBev (Bavaria). Peter F. Giorgi, president and chief executive office of Giorgi Global Holdings Inc., Canpack’s owner, noted Bavaria is integral to enlargening his company’s South American footprint.

 

Marcel Regis, president of Bavaria, said the facility aims to provide 100pc of its packaging out of recycled aluminium by 2025.

 

Aluminum cans manufactured at the plant, which will employ 200 workers, will be exported to neighboring South American countries.
