Colombia’s crude steel output plummeted by 71.8pc to 33,089mt in April this year, compared to the same month in 2019, according to the Colombian Steel Committee. Crude steel production in April last year was reported 117,696mt.
In the first four months of 2020, Colombia produced 342,173mt of crude steel, down by 20.2pc from the 428,904mt produced during the same period last year, according to the latest data released by the committee.
Long steel production also plunged by 91.7pc to 9,720mt in April, from 117,271mt produced in the same month in 2019.
The South American country produced 312,403mt of long steel products between January and April this year, down by 27.4pc compared with 430,752mt produced during the same period in 2019.
Imports of long steel products increased by 1.08pc in Q1 2020 to 214,080mt, from 211,802mt imported in the same year-ago period.
