Canada’s total investment in the building construction declined in November for the third consecutive month by 0.1pc to $15.3bn ($12bn), according to Statistics Canada (StatCan).
Investment in the non-residential sector was unchanged from the previous month in November at $4.4bn. However, commercial building construction fell by 0.5pc in November from October. Nonetheless, investment in industrial building construction rose by 0.6pc and institutional building grew by 0.4pc on a monthly basis, StatCan reported.
Investment in the residential construction declined by 0.1pc in November compared to the previous month. Single unit investment rose by 2.1pc to C$5.6bn while investment in multi unit construction dropped by 2.2pc to C$5.2bn, offsetting the rise in single unit investments.
