Hydro cuts production at European extrusion aluminium sites amid COVID-19 induced restrictions and market uncertainties. Around 45pc of Hydro’s extrusion sites are operating at normal levels, 35pc at reduced levels, while 20pc are either closed or operating at very low levels.

 

In the primary metal business segment, most Hydro plants are operating at normal levels. Production is temporarily shut at recycling plant Azuqueca in Spain, Clervaux in Luxembourg and Luce, France.

 

Hydro’s management is closely monitoring the markets and operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. All sites are operating under strict COVID-19 prevention guidances and supporting local authorities in combating the virus threat. The company’s units that supply products to customers in health care sector including extrusion for emergency response equipment, medical infrastructure, field hospitals are operating at normal levels. Hydro Extrusion Spain and Hydro Cressona are supporting customers providing critical support to the fight against COVID-19.

 

The company bauxite, alumina and energy operations are operating at normal levels amid market uncertainty. Rolled products operations are operating at a normal level but are pressured by production cuts by consumers, especially the automotive sector.

 

Hydro is a Norway based integrated aluminium producer with operations in 40 countries. The company produces primary aluminium, rolled, extruded and recycling products and also extracts bauxite, refines alumina and generates energy.
