Beverage packaging company Crown Holdings plans to build a new aluminum can factory in Minas Gerais, Brazil to serve the increased demand for beer and soft drink cans in the region.

The new plant will have two lines, producing different sizes of two-piece aluminum cans at an annual capacity of 2.4 billion units per year. Both the lines are expected to commence operations in Q2 2022 and Q4 2022, respectively.

Apart from this plant, the Pennsylvania-headquartered packaging company already operates five aluminum can plants in Brazil through its subsidiary Crown Embalagens. With the addition of the sixth plant, the manufacturer’s capacity in the country will increase to 13.3 billion units on an annual basis.
