The Czech Republic exported 2.19mn mt of ferrous scrap in 2020, down by 3pc on annual basis according to data from the country’s Customs agency.


In December 2020, the country shipped 159,107mt of ferrous scrap, a 4pc increase over the same month in 2019. During the year, Czech exports fell by 28pc and 32pc in April and May, respectively, but recovered in June to only 2pc lower than 2019 levels. In October, exports were 6pc higher than the prior-year period. 


Almost half or 71,335mt of ferrous scrap shipments from the Czech Republic went to Germany in December up 5pc from the previous year, followed by Italy at 28,300mt (down 17pc) and Austria at 21,693 (up 95pc). The only importer outside the EU was Pakistan at 2,875mt (up 22pc).
