Daimler increased its sales by 24pc for H1 2021, compared to the same period last year, to 1.46 million from 1.18 million cars sold, the manufacturer reported in its semi-annual report.

 

This year’s second quarter also brought good news for the German company, with a 36pc increase in sales compared to the April-June 2020 period, to 736,385 units sold from 541,833 units.

 

Truck and bus sales grew by 91pc between April and June 2021, compared to 2020, when they were affected by the pandemic, to 116,827 units from 61,033 vehicles sold. The company’s Mercedes-Benz car and van sales increased 29pc in this period, to 619,558 from 480,800 units sold.

 

Total revenue also increased for the German manufacturer by 24pc in the first half of 2021, compared to January-June last year, to EUR84bn ($99bn) from EUR67bn. In Q2 2021, the increase was 36pc compared to the same period last year, up to EUR43bn from EUR30bn.
