Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel’s 1780 hot-rolling mill and 1600 pickling hot load is scheduled be test run in the fourth quarter and will be fully pressed into production in the second quarter of the next year (Q2FY2021), according to local media.

 

Earlier, the company had informed that the commission of the hot rolling acid line will miss its scheduled deadline of September 2020 as construction work at the early stage was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Baosteel Desheng is one of Baosteel’s three main production bases. The facility is located in Fujian province and has a capacity to produce of 1.2mn mt of stainless steel, annually. Baosteel is transforming the Desheng plant into a green industry base with a focus on improving the company’s product mix, efficiency and competitiveness.  

 

The company is also constructing a 2500m3 blast furnace at the site. Last week, Baosteel Desheng held the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of 360㎡ sintering machine system for the plant.

 

Post the upgrades, Baosteel Desheng is expected to produce 4.5mn mt steel, including 3.3mn mt stainless steel, annually.
