India-based ductile iron (DI) pipe maker Srikalahasthi has shut its mini blast furnace (MBF) for capacity expansion. The plant located in Andhra Pradesh will be shut for 18 days to commission a new blast furnace, which will increase its annual capacity to 400,000mt from 300,000mt.
Backward and forward integrated facility will take up synchronization works and also commission a new finishing line during the period.
Srikalahasthi pipes or SPL (formerly known as Lanco Industries) is an associate company of Electrosteel Group. The company is a major ductile iron pipes manufacturer in India. SPL also has an annual 3,600mt capacity DI flanged pipe unit. The company also supplies high-quality foundry grade pig iron, low ash metallurgical coke and cement.
