Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

DIS-TRAN Steel, a manufacturer of pre-engineered steel poles for utility applications, is expanding its operations into central Ohio.

 

The new 58,000 sq ft facility in Fayette County will produce tapered tubular steel poles for the electric utility industry in the Midwest. It expects to reach full production capabilities early next year, and 200 new jobs have been forecasted over the next five years.

 

Donnie Roberts, president of DIS-TRAN, the Louisiana-based company that’s part of the CREST Industries group, said the expansion is timely because there’s strong demand for steel that’s needed maintain and expand the electrical grid in the US. However, the capacities of neither the Louisiana nor Ohio plants were provided to Davis Index.
