Ukraine’s Dneprovsky Iron and Steel (DMK) increased its rolled metal production by 13.3pc to 2.5mn mt in 2020. Its manufactured output also climbed by 15.2pc to 2.6mn mt and pig iron rose by 19.2pc to 2.36mn mt. Sinter production leaped by 40.2pc to 4.1mn mt.
A new Novokramatorsk casting stand which replaced the old unit in late 2020, started operating at the Dnipro Metallurgical plant in the converter shop. The new stand is expected to achieve longer life and maintain higher reliability while expanding the bucket from 230mt to 250-260mt, up 9-13pc thereby providing the potential for an increase in total crude steel production in 2021. The modifications also improved maintenance schedules and facilitate the work of steel castors.
In December 2020, DMK produced 226,100mt of steel and 71,200mt of rolled metal as well as 218,700mt of pig iron, and 363,700mt of sinter. In H1 2020, DMK exported 83pc or 1.3mn mt of its products with Bulgaria and China as leading buyers
