Copper exports increased 10pc in H1, rising to 871,956mt against 789,793 in H1 2020, according to the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) Ministry of Mines. 

 

Copper cathode exports reached 706,188mt, an 11.68pc increase against the 632,326mt of H1 2020. Mined copper exports increased 31.7pc, from 99,427mt in H1 2020 to 130,931mt in the same period 2021. The DRC´s Zinc production for H1 2021 was 7,685mt, a 23.7pc increase from the 6,213mt of H1 2020.

 

Total copper cathode exports volumes were at 368,515 in Q2 and 337,672mt in Q1 this year. The country’s Lualaba district widened its market share over High Katanga from 58.4pc in Q1 to 61.3pc in Q2. 

 

DRC’s Mined copper rose 15.3pc, from 60,809mt in Q1 to 70,121mt in Q2. Total copper exports reached 457,825mt, a 10.5pc increase from the 414,130mt registered by the Ministry in Q1. Zinc exports rose 56.1pc between quarters, from 3,000mt to 4,685mt.
