China’s East Hope group starts the construction of a 260,000mt aluminium alloy round ingot project. The new plant is the Phase 1 expansion of the company’s 500,000mt electrolytic aluminium production project in Guyang, Inner Mongolia. Production is expected to start by mid-October.
Also known as Baotou Xinhengfeng Energy company, the project is focused on developing the circular economy of Guyang county and extension of its heavy chemical industry chain. The Xinhengfeng smelter owns captive power plants fueled by rich coal resources found in the region, which provides the company with a huge cost advantage.
In November 2020, East Hope signed a pact with the County government to develop a 200,000mt civilian and 60,000mt industrial aluminium alloy round ingot project in Guyang. The groundbreaking ceremony of the project was held on May 9.
