Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The European Commission (EC) has initiated an anti-subsidy proceeding on June 12 concerning imports of certain hot-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy or other alloy steel originating from Turkey. 

 

The EC received a compliant from European steel association EUROFER, which represents more than 25pc of EU producers, that certain hot-rolled flat products imports from Turkey are being subsidized and causing injury to the EU’s industry.

 

The investigation of subsidisation and injury will cover the period from Jan 1, 2019 to Dec 31, 2019, according to the document received by Davis Index. The examination of trends relevant for the assessment of injury will cover period from Jan 1, 2016 to the end of the investigation.

 

The investigation will be concluded normally within 12 months, but not more than 13 months from the date of the notice’s publication. Provisional measures may be imposed normally not later than nine months from the publication of the notice.
