The European Commission is intending to impose provisional anti-dumping (AD) duties on aluminum flat-rolled products imported into the European Union (EU) originating from China, the commission informed in a notification.
The products subject to the duties are flat-rolled aluminum products including coils, strips, cut-to-length sheets, and plates. The provisional anti-dumping duty for listed companies is set between 19.6pc to 28.2pc, while for other companies, it will be 47.3pc.
The duty is expected to be applied to aluminum products under CN codes ex 7606 11 10 (TARIC codes 7606 11 10 25, 7606 11 10 86), ex 7606 11 91 (TARIC codes 7606 11 91 25, 7606 11 91 86), ex 7606 11 93 (TARIC codes 7606 11 93 25, 7606 11 93 86), ex 7606 11 99 (TARIC codes 7606 11 99 25, 7606 11 99 86), ex 7606 12 20 (TARIC codes 7606 12 20 25, 7606 12 20 88, 7606 12 20 86), ex 7606 12 92 (TARIC codes 7606 12 92 25, 7606 12 92 93, 7606 12 92 95), ex 7606 12 93 (TARIC code 7606 12 93 86), ex 7606 12 99 (TARIC codes 7606 12 99 25 and 7606 12 99 86), ex 7606 91 00 (TARIC codes 7606 91 00 25, 7606 91 00 86), ex 7606 92 00 (TARIC codes 7606 92 00 25, 7606 92 00 92, 7606 92 00 86), ex 7607 11 90 (TARIC codes 7607 11 90 44, 7607 11 90 48, 7607 11 90 51, 7607 11 90 53, 7607 11 90 65, 7607 11 90 71, 7607 11 90 73, 7607 11 90 75, 7607 11 90 77, 7607 11 90 91, 7607 11 90 93) and ex 7607 19 90 (TARIC codes 7607 19 90 75, 7607 19 90 94, 7607 19 90 86).
Flat-rolled aluminum products used for beverage can body, body panels in the automotive industry, manufacture of aircraft parts, and the production of certain coated coils and composite panels are exempted from this provisional AD measure.
The complaint was lodged by European Aluminium on behalf of 25pc of domestic flat-rolled aluminum producers on June 30, 2020.
The anti-dumping investigation will cover the period from July 1, 2019, till June 30, 2020.
