Egypt’s iron and steel exports in the first seven months in 2020 declined by 34pc to $306mn as compared to $461mn in the prior-year period, according to the Building Materials and Refractories Export Council.

 

Saudi Arabia, Spain, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, Sudan, Jordan, America, Yemen, and Canada acquired 80.1pc of the total exports worth $245mn during the period.

 

In July, Egypt’s iron and steel exports decreased by 8.5pc to $54mn from the same month year prior.

 

Saudi Arabia imported 32.3pc of total steel exports worth $98.98mn from Egypt in the January-July period, down by 29pc from $139mn in the same period year prior.

 

Spain remained the largest importer of iron exports. The country imported Egyptian iron worth $25.9mn in the seventh-month period, up by 25pc from $20.72mn in the same period last year.
