The Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry has imposed anti-dumping (AD) duties on aluminum molds, cylinders, and wires imported into the country for a period of three years, as per local media reports citing a statement by the ministry on Tuesday.
The country has imposed the anti-dumping duty at a rate of 16.5pc of Insurance and Freight (CIF) value with a minimum of $333/mt for the first year, 13.5pc of the CIF at a minimum value of $271/mt in the second year, and 10.5pc of the CIF at a minimum value of $211/mt in the third year on the said products.
The tariff will be enforced from mid-April 2021 for three years.
In April 2020, the ministry had agreed to implement measures against the large increase in aluminum imports of aluminum products including molds and cylinders, and wires based on the recommendation of the advisory committee.
After a review of the situation, the ministry found out that there was a significant increase in the imports of the said products which caused significant damage to the local industry and required the imposition of anti-dumping measures.
