Egyptalum will expand its production capacity by 500,000/mt annually, the expansion project will be completed in two phases. Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of Enterprise Department of Egypt said that the US-based Bechtel has completed engineering research for this expansion project.
The minister added that the expansion projects will also include a car wheel manufacturing plant to cater to domestic as well as overseas demand.
Egyptalum has smelters in Africa. The company’s revenue decline in fiscal year 2019-2020 due to the drop in global aluminium prices. The company’s profitability has improved ever since as prices rebound. Egyptalum made EGP994mn ($63.35mn) loss in 2019-2020 from EGP571mn ($36.38mn) profit in the year prior.
