Canadian electric vehicle (EV) maker ElectraMeccanica plans to set up a new plant in Mesa, Arizona to meet anticipated demand in the US.
The new plant will produce the company’s flagship EV – the Solo, which seats one person, according to the company’s release on Mar 16. The carmaker has not disclosed when the plant will be commissioned but said that it will be capable of producing 20,000 units per year at full capacity. The facility will also include a technology center and create 500 new jobs.
The company began deliveries of the Solo in October 2020. ElectraMeccanica stated that it has seen growing interest in the US consumer market for commercial fleets as well.
