Cast aluminum producer Ellwood Aluminum has completed the construction of its debut plant in Hubbard, Ohio which began in 2018.
The plant has an annual production capacity of 68,040mt and will produce ingots, billets, and slabs. The company services the aerospace and automotive sector. Ellwood is capable of producing alloys from the 2,000-, 5,000-, 6,000- and 7,000-series. It will also supply material for rolling and extrusion mills.
The $60mn plant comprises a casting pit, a 50-ton melting and holding furnace as well as two 40-ton cranes to handle large payloads. In February, Ellwood completed its first cast weighing 95,000lbs, considered to be the largest ever in North America, as per media reports.
