Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Elme Metall is expanding operations in Lithuania with a multi-million dollar project.

The company began construction of its  production and logistics complex in the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone (KFEZ) last month, while another production and logistics complex was purchased in Vilnius. Production at the KFEZ complex will commence by the second half of 2020.

An industrial complex for processing flat and profiled rolling metal products will also begin shortly. The project encompasses 7.6 hectares and BLRT Grupp, of which Elme Metall is a subsidiary, will invest about €20mn (USD$22mn) in this project.

The land upon which the Vilnius complex will be built was acquired from Steel Trade and is roughly 27,000 square meters.  It houses a production and logistics complex, as well as a steel framework and service center, and covers about 11,000 square meters.

According to Georgi Grigoryan, Elme Metall’s chairman of the board, the Vilnius site is located near major highways, which will allow the company to develop retail and wholesale trade agreements in both the Lithuanian and Baltic markets.

Elme Metall produces hot rolled steel and metal products, and mainly operates in Baltic Sea countries.
