Envision AESC, Nissan Motor Co’s Chinese battery partner intends to invest JPY50bn ($460mn) in the construction of a new battery plant in the Japanese prefecture, Ibaraki, north of Tokyo.


According to media reports, The plant is expected to begin production in 2024 and its total investment is expected to reach JPY100bn. Envision also announced last month that it plans to construct a battery plant in the UK, which will also begin production in 2024. 


Envision will break ground on the plant next year. In comparison, the similar UK plant will aim to put out batteries to power 100,000 electric vehicles in the first year of production.
