Eurasian Resources Group (ERG)’s Kazakhstan Aluminium Smelter JSC (KAS) produced 266,000mt of aluminum in 2020, up by 6pc from its expected annual target of 250,000mt, the company said in a statement.
The growth in the output was driven by the increasing demand in the European markets and to keep up with the rising domestic sales.
The company said that the sales have risen domestically and internationally with the easing of restrictions and fiscal stimulus programs, particularly in China and Europe.
The company’s domestic sales in 2020 rose by 20pc after signing 11 contracts with businesses across Kazakhstan.
The company’s sales in the European markets in 2020 accounted for 77pc of the total exports, which is 10,000mt more than the prior year.
KAS is the only producer of high-grade primary aluminum in Kazakhstan and exports aluminum to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, apart from selling domestically.
