Industrial production increased by 20.5pc in the Euro area and by 21.2pc in the EU in May 2021 compared to the same month last year, according to Eurostat.
Eurostat also reported that industrial production in May was down by 1pc in the Euro area and by 0.9pc in the EU from the previous month.
In the Euro area production of durable consumer goods rose by 37.6pc, capital goods increased by 27.6pc, intermediate goods by 24.1pc, and non-durable consumer goods by 9.7pc in May annually. On a monthly basis, production of non-durable consumer goods fell by 2.3pc, capital goods by 1.6pc, and intermediate goods by 0.2pc while production of durable goods in the Euro area saw a 1.6pc rise in May.
In the EU, production of durable consumer goods increased by 39.1pc, capital goods by 29.6pc, intermediate goods by 24.2pc, non-durable consumer goods by 10.1pc this May from last year. Production in non-durable consumer goods saw a 1.7pc fall, capital goods production was down by 1.6pc and intermediate goods saw a 0.1pc decline while production of durable consumer goods rose by 1.5pc in the EU in May from April this year.
Production in construction in the Euro area increased by 13.6pc and by 11.6pc in the EU in May this year annually while it rose by 0.9pc in the Euro area and by 0.7pc in the EU from April this year, Eurostat reported.
In May, building construction in the Euro area saw a 15pc rise, and civil engineering increased by 7.2pc while in the EU there was a 12.8pc and 6pc rise annually.
Building construction and civil engineering grew 1.2pc and 0.3pc respectively in May 2021 compared to the previous month in the Euro area while there was a 0.9pc and 0.1pc increase in April this year in the EU for both categories.
