Europe’s flat steel service center (SSC) shipments fell by 22.8pc in the first five months of 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, according to the latest data from Eurometal.
The report, which did not disclose volumes, indicated that in May 2020, strip mill products decreased by 38.5pc compared to May 2019, and fell by 51.9pc from April 2020. Days of shipment for SSC averaged 102 days in May compared to 70 days during the same month last year.
Europe’s multi-product and proximity steel stockholding and distribution also fell by 13.6pc from January to May 2020, compared with the same period last year. Almost all product shipment except rebar dropped during this period.
In May this year, “All steel product” shipments were down by 32.9pc compared to the same period last year, Eurometal indicated. Days of shipment at all steel stocking and distribution facility also averaged at 97 days in May as opposed to 76 days in May 2019.
