Commercial vehicle registrations in the EU rose by 36.9pc to 1mn units in H1 2021 against the same period last year. The four largest markets climbed by 53.7pc in Italy, 38.4pc in Spain, 36.4pc in France, and 21.7pc in Germany during the H1 2021 period against the same year-ago timeframe.

 

Commercial vehicle registrations rose by 12.4pc to 185,573 units in June against the same year-ago month, according to European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA). Demand was propelled by central EU countries with a 43.4pc increase this June from the previous year. In the Western EU, Germany climbed by 25.8pc and Italy rose by 5.3pc in June against the year-ago month.

 

New medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MHCV) rose by 34.1pc to 154,387 units in H1 2021 in the EU, and new medium and heavy buses rose by 3.2pc to 12,887 units in H1, both against the same period in 2020.

 

Light commercial vehicles, mostly vans, rose by 9pc in June against the year-ago month but leaped by 38.1pc for the first six months in 2021 to 856,926 units against H2 2020.

 

Heavy commercial vehicles such as heavy trucks swelled by 37.1pc to 21,828 units in June compared to the year-ago month but climbed by 39.3pc to 128,333 units in H1 2021 against the same period in 2020.
